Productive Committee Meeting

We held our first Committee Meeting since the AGM on Mon 20th October.

Here are some interesting points for you to be aware of...

Finances are in better shape than they have been for a while.

Grant applications to be sent out to raise extra funds for new covers.

Dean Smith has given approval for work to begin on building the veranda at front of pavilion.

New website under construction!  The brain-child of Scarifier Skewes...more news on this to follow.

Players 2009

Overseas Player

We have contacted Darryn Busch and he has agreed to be our overseas player for 2009.  The Committee are now actively involved in making his return happen.

-----------

Welcome to Chelford CC

Welcome to Chris Williams who has agreed to join us.  He has been introduced to our club by Chairman Rod Wakelin and will be a useful addition to our 1st XI squad.

-------------------------

Back Home

Slappa has arrived safely back in the land of 'roos and sunshine.  We have thanked him on behalf of the club for giving 100% on and off the field for us in 2008.  We wish him well and of course we will keep in touch.  Thanks also to Tony Barnes for the use of his cottage and the Olivers for providing a job - it's really appreciated!

AGM 2008

Decent turn out and plenty of views and ideas shared during the evening.

The 2008 season was disappointing and Mike Dickenson was rightly upset with the lack of commitment from several players.

We as a club have to do better!

However, the Committee would urge our players not to make a knee jerk reaction to our relegation.  There are plans to improve the playing strength of the club.  If we can keep the majority of our existing squad and add at least 2/3 genuine 1st XI players then we will have a good 2009 season.

Mike Shenton Memorial Match

Sunday 15th June 2008

Everyone must surely agree we all had a great day on Sunday 15th June for Shents Memorial Match.  The weather was kind to us and the game was enjoyed by all that turned out.  Thanks to all that came down to the ground - past and present players exchanging stories with Mike of course the main talking point.  Well done to the people that arranged the game and food etc.  Jill passed on her thanks to everyone that attended.

Cheers!

Saturday Match Fees

We all know we have a match fee to pay on Saturday match days.  Please can all players try to have the EXACT money ready to pay.  This makes life so much easier for the Captains and those collecting the money.  Let's also make PNW (pay next week) a thing of the past!

--------------------------------

A big Well Done to ex player Bernie Cummings who ran the Wilmslow Half Marathon on 30th March raising over £400 for Christie's Hospital Well Done CRUSHER!!

-------------------------

Pre-season Lunch

Thanks to everyone that helped out with this.  A good time was had by all.  Great effort!

Many Thanks To Babara Icke for the Photos.

 --------------------------------

Big thanks to ALL that have helped with the refurbishment and cleaning of the pavilion.  Thanks also to those that have worked on the ground and surrounding areas.

--------------------------------

Ball Sponsorship

Remember this?  Hopefully, we are all going to get 2 sponsors each at £25 a time.  Don't worry though because if you can't find a sponsor you can pledge £25 for a match ball yourself!  We need names of companies etc in as soon as possible.  Please use this e-mail link chelfordcc@hotmail.co.uk or speak to one of the Committee.

--------------------------------------------

CLUBMARK

Getting ever closer to gaining this accreditation. We all know that it is so important to our development as a club.

Note:  We desperately need people to volunteer as junior coaches and to attend the required coaching course(s).  Don't be shy!  Please get in touch...

chelfordcc@hotmail.co.uk

While on subject of Clubmark, there is not a chance of us being anywhere near where we are now without the superb effort put in by Robin Payne.  Thanks Robin, it is appreciated.

--------------------------------

IF WE DON'T HAVE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS COULD YOU PLEASE SEND IT TO US SO WE CAN ADD YOU TO OUR DATABASE, IT'LL BE ALOT EASIER TO KEEP YOU ALL UP TO DATE!!

We are always on the look out for new players, we pride ourselves at Chelford CC for being a friendly club.
