FESTIVAL WASHED OUTFor the second year running Festival Day (Sun 6th July) was rained off after just a few overs of cricket. Major disappointment of course considering the hard work required to put on an event like this. We will be trying again on Sunday 7th September 2008.
Thanks to all those that helped out especially Mr Festival AKA Heathy - legendary - your efforts are appreciated by everyone at Chelford CC!
Not all doom and gloom though. Saturday night was a great success with the band Thaw putting on a super show. We did very well on the bar and BBQ etc.
Even on Sunday as people sheltered from the rain we had plenty of interest in the Tombola and cake stall. So, with the main event still to come we have not done too badly at all.

Mike Shenton Memorial Match
Sunday 15th June 2008
Everyone must surely agree we all had a great day on Sunday 15th June for Shents Memorial Match. The weather was kind to us and the game was enjoyed by all that turned out. Thanks to all that came down to the ground - past and present players exchanging stories with Mike of course the main talking point. Well done to the people that arranged the game and food etc. Jill passed on her thanks to everyone that attended.

Outdoor Nets
These will take place at the club on Wednesday from 5.30pm onwards so please try and attend, All we can ask is if we are able to train on any part of the square please try and not damage the square because Ron has been putting some very hard work in and the square looks in top condition.

Saturday Match Fees
We all know we have a match fee to pay on Saturday match days whether that is £12 or £6. Please can all players try to have the EXACT money ready to pay. This makes life so much easier for the Captains and those collecting the money. Let's also make PNW (pay next week) a thing of the past!

A big Well Done to ex player Bernie Cummings who ran the Wilmslow Half Marathon on 30th March raising over £400 for Christie's Hospital Well Done CRUSHER!!

Daz Busch our overseas player last season has not been able to join us for the 2008 season. He has tried very hard to find a way to make it happen as we have here. Unfortunately, things have just not worked out. On behalf of Chelford CC we wish him well and of course we will keep in touch.

WANTED
First aiders for 1st XI, 2nd XI and Sunday XI any of the players for those teams that are first aiders to help Robin Payne in his hardwork of obtaining our clubmark we need to have things like these in place.Contact Gary or Oggy and then we can pass forward your details to Robin.
We still are looking for Junior players of all ages so if you know of anyone bring them along to training.

Also Mark Shallcross came up with the idea of Match ball Sponsors for next season if every player can get at least 2 match balls sponsored for £25 then that will generate alot of extra cash for the club which stood at a loss last season so alot of hard work in fund raising is required by ourselves this season. The match ball sponsorship will enable to club to freeze the match playing fees to £12 (seniors) £6 (Juniors/students/life members).
Also voted for on the night were 2 new recruits for the short list of life members for long service to the club and they were our Chairman and ex player Tony Barnes and ex player Derek Higgins these awards dont come easy these 2 people have put alot of hard work into the club.

Getting ever closer to gaining this accreditation. We all know that it is so important to our development as a club.
Note: We desperately need people to volunteer as junior coaches and to attend the required coaching course(s). Don't be shy! Please get in touch...
While on subject of Clubmark, there is not a chance of us being anywhere near where we are now without the superb effort put in by Robin Payne. Thanks Robin, it is appreciated.
